FAQ

Like anyone looking for an assisted living facility for their loved one, you have questions. And we want to make sure that you have all of your questions and concerns answered. We encourage you to ask as many questions as possible, and always seek out an answer that satisfies you. Chances are you are not the first person to have such a question or concern and any good assisted care facility will be happy to take the time to listen to your concerns and answer your questions.
Here are some of the more commonly asked questions:
  1. What About The food? This is a big worry for all caregivers of loved ones. We do not do institutionalized meals. All of our food is hand prepared in our kitchen. The menus are available to look over and the kitchen can prepare meals for those on a specialized diet or with particular needs. Dietary advisors help in the menu preparation and we refresh the choices regularly. All visitors are welcome to take a meal when on a tour or to come back at a time that suits them better.
  2. What is my parent going to do all day? At a Parent’s Paradise & Care we do not believe in the warehouse style of care. Your loved ones will not be plonked in front of a TV for the day but instead will have a choice of activities to enjoy. After breakfast, the residents have time to themselves before doing their exercise routines. Depending on the care needed, these routines differ and are tailored for each of our residents. After lunch we focus on mental stimulation with bingo, arts and crafts, card games and other activities that encourage the brain and social interaction. If a resident has a special request, we always try to accommodate them. On national holidays we bring in musicians to play popular tunes and local kids may visit as part of their National Honors Society activities.
  3. What about the other residents? We try very hard to place residents who are similar in the level of care they need in the same care facility. That way the care is specialized and residents are cared for properly. It is also a priority of ours to place people of similar age groups and life experiences in the same home, as this helps with the social atmosphere of the care facility. The majority of our residents are from the local area and have a lot in common with others in the home. This helps greatly with social interaction and also with the transition to assisted living care.
  4. What will their room be like? It is very important to us that your loved one enjoys their new home and a comfortable room is vital to this transition. We encourage you to decorate their private space with their own furniture and favorite objects from home. This way they won’t feel like they have left everything behind. Come look at the rooms when on a tour and imagine what it will be like when furnished with your loved one’s possessions.
5.What level of care is available? We provide all levels of care up to clinical care. At our homes we accommodate those needing similar levels of care in the same facility.  We evaluate the resident, with the family, so everyone can be happy that their loved one is going to the right care home. This way we can focus our care where it is needed. In high functioning homes residents take more responsibility for caring for themselves, with our staff doing supervisory duties such as making sure they take their medications. In other homes, staff provide more direct care such as help with personal hygiene and the day to day help your loved one may want or need to maintain a comfortable and healthy life. We will work with you and your loved one to choose the best option for your parent or loved one.
  1. Are the staff qualified? All of our staff are fully trained and licensed to care for your parent or loved one. Similarly, all of our homes are fully state compliant and all of premises are inspected annually. Training for staff is fully up to date and only staff with the proper training will be providing the level of care your loved one needs. We have medical personnel on call and our staff is trained to know when they need to be involved. We know that communication with you is of the utmost importance so you will be the first to know if your loved one is not eating or needs a change in medication.
There are so many questions to be asked. Just because you do not see a question here does not mean yours is not a genuine concern. Ask us any and all questions you have, we’re here to help. Please call us at any time to schedule a visit or just to ask a question that is bothering you.
